1. One-paragraph summary
JunkRabbit Chicago is a junk removal service for the city and the near suburbs, built for two-flats, three-flats, courtyard buildings and alley collection. Basement storage in a Logan Square two-flat, a third-floor walk-up in Lakeview, a River North high-rise and a garage off an alley in Oak Park all get the same flat per-item price, carried out from inside. Customers pick items or upload a photo and see an itemized total before booking, with no call needed. Vetted, insured local haulers work 7 days a week from 8am to midnight, with same-day pickup when booked by 4 PM. A standard sofa is $126, a queen mattress $103 and a full truck $732.
2. What JunkRabbit is built for in Chicago
Two-flats, three-flats and basements
Chicago's flats stack units over garden-level basements, and that's where years of furniture, appliances and boxes end up. Crews carry items up from the basement or down from the top unit at the same price, with no stairs fee. See the two-flat basement problem.
Buildings city collection doesn't cover
City bulky pickup is for buildings of four units or fewer with city carts. Larger buildings use private scavenger contracts, so many renters and condo owners have no free bulky route at all. A JunkRabbit pickup works the same at any address.
High-rises and managed buildings
Loop, River North, Gold Coast and Streeterville buildings usually want a certificate of insurance and a booked freight elevator. JunkRabbit emails a free COI to the managing agent within 1 hour of booking.
Winter and the alley
Items left in the alley through snow and freeze don't stay usable for long. Same-day pickup when booked by 4 PM, and crews working until midnight, mean nothing has to wait outside. See pre-winter garage clear-outs.
3. Verified pricing

No floor or walk-up surcharge, no elevator fee, no same-day or weekend surcharge, no COI fee, no refrigerant fee. The minimum order is $100. Piles and cleanouts are priced by how much of the 16-cubic-yard truck they fill.

6. How a pickup works
- See the price. Pick items or upload a photo at chicago.getjunkrabbit.com. The total appears on screen, with no call and no phone number needed to see it.
- Book. Choose an arrival window, any day 8am to midnight, and add a card. Same-day is available if booked by 4 PM.
- (If needed) COI. Add the managing agent at checkout; the certificate goes out within 1 hour.
- Pickup. A vetted, insured local hauler comes inside, takes items from any floor, disassembles if needed and carries everything out. You get text updates on the day.
- Price check. If there are extra items that weren't in the booking, the crew shows the updated price and waits for your approval before loading them.
- Disposal. We try to donate usable items when local charities accept them and recycle whatever we can; refrigerants are recovered from fridges and AC units.
7. vs Chicago 311 bulky-item pickup
Chicago's Department of Streets and Sanitation collects bulky household items for residences on city garbage service, which means buildings of four units or fewer with city carts. Small set-outs ride along with regular collection; bigger loads and appliances go through a 311 bulky-item request, and fridge and freezer doors have to come off before set-out. Illinois bans TVs, computers and monitors from landfills, so electronics are excluded, as are construction debris, paint, chemicals and tires. Suburbs run their own programs. Check your own municipality's current page.
If you're in a small building on city service with an accepted item you can get to the alley, the 311 route is the cheapest. JunkRabbit is for everything else: buildings on private contracts, high-rises, TVs and electronics, items stuck in a basement or upper unit, and anything that has to go today. 8. vs national operators
National franchises such as 1-800-GOT-JUNK and Junk King typically quote by truck volume and confirm the final price once the crew sees the job. JunkRabbit publishes a flat price for each item online, so the total is known before booking, and the job is done by a vetted, insured local hauler. There is no stairs fee and no same-day surcharge.
