How to read this list
These are published prices, not estimates. You pick the items, you see the total, and the crew that pulls into your alley charges that total. Disposal is inside it. The carry is inside it. There is no stair charge, no walk-up fee and no fuel add-on.
Two numbers frame everything else. The minimum for any visit is $75. The most a single truckload costs is $732. If your list adds up to more than a full truck, it is two loads, and you will be told that before the day rather than after.

Sectionals are worth a second look if you are in a vintage walk-up in Lincoln Square or Uptown. The three-piece at $185 usually comes apart and goes down the back stairs in sections. The same volume as one welded frame is what turns into an oversize sofa that has to be cut apart, at $185.

A typical Chicago two-flat basement that has been filling since the last owner is a half at $431 or three-quarters at $587. A single-car garage off the alley, cleared to the walls, is usually a half or better.
Putting a real list together
May 1 move-out, one-bedroom in Wicker Park. Sofa at $126, queen mattress and box spring set at $143, metal bed frame at $68: $126 + $143 + $68 = $337.
Bungalow basement in Portage Park after a wet spring. Rolled carpet at $68, flat-pack bookcase at $100, and a large junk pile at $208: $68 + $100 + $208 = $376.
Kitchen swap in a Logan Square graystone. Standard refrigerator at $164, gas range at $137, dishwasher at $109: $164 + $137 + $109 = $410.
Every one of those totals is the same whether the truck parks in the alley behind the garage or in front on the street, and whether the crew carries from a garden unit or from three floors up.

Are these prices real, or do they change when the crew shows up?
They are the price. You see the total before you book and that is what you pay. Disposal and the carry-out are already inside it.
What is the minimum charge in Chicago?
$75 per visit. Individual items priced below that, like a $30 patio chair or a $57 nightstand on its own, still come to the $75 minimum.
When does per-item stop making sense?
Around the point where you stop being able to list it. A dozen named items is fine per-item. A whole basement is a truck-fill step, from $241 for a quarter truck to $732 for a full one.
Do you charge extra for a third-floor walk-up or a basement with a turn in the stairs?
No. Chicago three-flats, vintage walk-ups and bungalow basements are the normal working conditions here, not an exception. There is no stair charge and no walk-up fee.
Can you get a truck into my alley?
On most residential blocks, yes, and it makes the job faster. In winter, shovel the apron in front of the garage if you can. If the alley is blocked, the crew works from the street instead and the price is unchanged.
